On April 13, 1999, a new ROTC tradition was started when Cadets Jason Rowe and David Bowers read the first rendering of “I Am A Maverick” during the Spring Military Ball. Captain Bruce Kimery, a cadre member, compiled and wrote “I am a Maverick” which traces UTA’s proud military tradition under its present and predecessor names and its alumni’s service to our country. The narrative continues to be modified as needed to include current events. The “I am a Maverick” team with cadets representing each era mentioned has performed the tableau at numerous university and public events and continues to inspire and remind its audiences or our proud legacy.
